The Daily Nosh - II Samuel 12:10-12

The Daily Nosh - II Samuel 12:10-12(Concerning King David, Uriah, and Bathsheba) So now the sword will never depart from your house – because you have despised Me and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife. Thus, says the Lord: “Behold, I am going to raise up evil against you from your own household, and will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor, and he will lie with your wives in the sight of the sun. Indeed you have done it secretly, but will do this thing before all Israel and under the sun.” (TLV) II Samuel 12:10-12 Nosh: God holds us accountable for secret sin the same as He does for sin of which we are conscious. David’s sin of adultery and murder in the matter of Bathsheba was known by only a few. However, as we see in these verses, God knew and judged him all the same. In my relationship with God, I have found that all known and unreconciled sin, no matter how small it seems to me, is a burden and strain on my relationship with God. The moment I repent of and purge these sins before God, the better off I am. My conscience is clear, the burden of guilt is eliminated, greater peace is felt, and a deeper sense of God’s love in my relationship with Him is attained.
