My son, if you stop heeding instruction, you will stray from the words of knowledge. (TLV) Proverbs 19:27 Nosh: In this verse, Solomon infers that wise counsel and instruction are critical components to a less error prone and troubled life. He further instructs that self-reliance that rejects counsel, not might or may, but will lead to increasingly destructive results. Having a few trusted, wise, and experienced people in my life that I can seek out for timely advice and counsel has been an invaluable source of objective perspective. Their input, combined with prayer and the regular reading of God’s Word, has helped me navigate life’s many difficult situations and make important decisions in a careful, well-considered manner that has saved me a boatload of heartache and distress.
