For we all stumble in many ways. If someone does not stumble in speech, he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body as well. So also the tongue is a small member – yet it boasts of great things. See how small a fire sets a blaze so great a forest! And the tongue is a fire. The tongue is a world of evil placed among our body parts. It pollutes the whole body and sets on fire the course of life – and is set on fire by Gehenna (hell). (TLV) James 3:2, 5-6 Nosh: One of the secrets to success in life is the practiced and acquired ability to control what, when, and how we speak. When we learn to be slow and careful with our words, we avoid much stress, confusion, and unnecessary conflict throughout life. This is a skill that takes intentional and considerable practice but yields a lifetime of reward well worth the effort.
